What is eTsec?

e-TSEC is a contemporary application designed to provide teachers a self-assessment tool for their self-efficacy beliefs, adaptability, stress, perceived autonomy support, job satisfaction and social-emotional learning comfort during challenging times. The system is currently being developed as part of the research project entitled “Enhancing teachers’ self-efficacy in implementing the DepEd developmental framework during COVID-19 pandemic: Development and application of a mobile app to address their professional development needs”.

How eTsec works?

The e-TSEC application, through teachers’ self-assessment, is capable of generating an output that highlights which essential factors need to be addressed to be more effective and efficient in implementing the DepEd framework. This has immense benefits not only at a personal level but more importantly at an organisational level where each school can have a strong focus on their professional development targeting those deficit factors by individual teachers.

When will eTsec offer its service?

The application will be pilot tested for two months where volunteer teachers will be asked to use it to track their development. The collected data along with a series of consultations with various stakeholders will provide a policy brief to the Department of Education that outlines processes, activities, support and resources needed by teachers. The app will be formally turned over to the Department of Education for potential scalability of use to support teachers to effectively and efficiently ensure equity to access to education, enhance the quality of education and implement a responsive governance in the time of pandemic and other related disruptions to school functions.
